Another overcast day, this time in July, we left Trowbridge for Bishops Lydeard in Somerset for the steam train to Minehead. Due to heavy traffic in places, we were a little late but they held the train for us. It was lovely to sit back and meander through the beautiful Somerset countryside, with the sun just peeking out when we arrived in Minehead. As usual, people went their separate ways.
One group walked along the sea wall to the harbour: interestingly, Minehead is a start point for the South West Coastal Path. After lunch we wandered into the town’s Blenheim Gardens, with colourful flower beds and some wonderful trees. Returning to the Promenade, we had tea and cake while we waited for the coach. Some of the group alighted from
the train at Watchet to spend the afternoon there. We left for home around 4pm, arriving in Trowbridge (to torrential rain!) around 6pm.
