Work with Year 10 Students at Clarendon Academy

In the first week of December about 20 of our members attended Clarendon Academy throughout the week to support Year 10 Health and Social Care students, who were required as part of their course to lead an activity to an “older person”. These turned out to be one-to-one sessions where the students led a whole range of activities such as decorating cup cakes, flower arranging, pop-up Christmas cards, decorating jars for flowers and so on. I think it is fair to say that our members thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would participate again if asked. I think the students enjoyed it too and it was evident that the school were pleased with the way it turned out. It is pleasing to have made a small contribution to the students' progress and made a valuable connection with the wider community in such an enjoyable way.
