The Architecture Group has a lively and active membership who enjoy studying all aspects of architecture – local, national and international – ancient and modern. What we look at reflects members’ interests, and meetings are usually led by a group member. Detailed knowledge of architecture is not necessary, just an interest in the built environment.
The group meets at 2.15pm on the fourth Monday of each month (Except December), unless we are out on a visit. Usually two or three times a year we go out for visits. We have just returned to face-to-face meetings after the covid restrictions, and we are currently meeting in the Lounge at St. Thomas’s Church. As this is not a house-based group we do not place a limit on numbers and any U3A member is welcome to come along to our meetings.
Our programme for the next few months is a s follows:
27th September: Some significant Victorian Churches by Kevin Eames;
25th October: Thomas Heatherwick by Mary Anderson;
22nd November: Builders’ Pattern Books in Newtown, Trowbridge by Peter Collier
27th December: No meeting;
24th January 2022: The Architecture of James Miller by David Feather;
28th February: The Persian School of Islamic Architecture by Alan Soldat;
28th March: Buildings That Heal by Yvonne Doonan;
25th April: Brutalism by Peter Collier.
