Play Reading

U3A playreadingWe started 15 years ago very modestly with plays from the French’s catalogue bought by the coordinator and sets were borrowed from Devizes library for roughly £2.50. The charge now is £7.50 for each set with a subscription of £1 each member.

As we have read over 150 plays it is getting more difficult to find suitable material but sometimes a group member will prospect another library for us and come up with something new.

Some of the authors include Anouilh, Alan Ayckbourne, Alan Bennett, Chaucer, Noel Coward, Goldsmith, Arthur Miller, Shakespeare, Tom Stoppard, Rattigan, Rosentall, Dylan Thomas, Timberlake, Wertenberger and many others. This month we are reading a version of ‘Cider with Rosie’ with 37 parts so you can imagine the juggling needed to cast this marathon.

We are a house group meeting at 10.00 am on the last Friday of each month. We would welcome other interested thespians and the leader does not interfere too much.

Please contact the Groups Co-ordinator.
