Trip to MOTTISFONT
THURSDAY 19TH.MAY 2022
A trip is planned to visit Mottisfont, a National Trust property near Romsey.
The house dates from the 18th.century with a medieval priory at its heart.
The house was transformed into a neo-classical house in the 1930’s by Maud Russel. She bought artists there to relax and create works inspired by Mottisfonts’ past, including the extraordinary drawing room known as the ‘Whistler Room’ painted by Rex Whistler and includes artistic visual illusions known as ‘troupe-l’oeil’
The gardens are a feast for all senses all year round, including a stunning walled rose garden. Winding paths meander through stately trees with the sound of water never far away.
The Old kitchen café is open for hot and cold food, with both indoor and outside seating areas.
