Thursday 17 June, a grey and damp morning – 83 WWU3A members left Trowbridge early for the journey to London – the start of a long day.
We arrived at Westminster Pier later than hoped due to heavy traffic. We boarded the large riverboat at 12.30pm for our 2 hour cruise along the river Thames to Greenwich. We had an onboard commentary by a man who was passionate about the river. He chatted cheerfully for almost 2 hours, pointing out all the important sights, together with a brief history.
We went through the Thames Barrier before landing at Greenwich where the sun was shining.
Unfortunately due to the delay, we only had 1.5 hoursin Greenwich before the long trek home.
Time to have a quick lunch, brief look over the Cutty Sark, visit the Naval Museum or wander through the market.
All in All a very good day – all thanks to Tony Bowes for arranging it. Unfortunately due to ill health he could not join us.
